Get married in Moscow: Ideas for an unforgettable celebration in the heart of Russia

The Russian capital is good for traveling, for rest, and for an unforgettable wedding. Every year Moscow plays about 100 thousand weddings, and it knows exactly what to offer newlyweds and how to remember one of the most important days in life. This beautiful and modern city has a rich history, amazing architecture, unforgettable views for photo shoots, cozy hotels, luxurious restaurants and plenty of ideas for your wedding trip.

In the air, in the TV tower, palace or in the subway – unusual places for a wedding in Moscow

Any foreign couple may marry on the territory of Russia, unless the legislation of the couple’s country of origin prohibits it. On an equal footing with Moscow residents, you can apply to a Russian registry office, have your passports translated and presented in Russian, and get the opportunity to choose an “address of happiness”. This is the name of a unique wedding project for Muscovites, thanks to which the bride and groom can choose a stylish restaurant, an old mansion, the Pushkin Library, a soccer stadium or a restaurant for the solemn registration. Pushkin, soccer stadium, Ferris wheel, TV tower, cable car or even a night ceremony at one of the subway stations. Muscovites themselves most often choose for the original ceremony the Birds restaurant in the tower of the skyscraper “Eye”, the Church of Matrona of Moscow, the Danilovsky Park Hotel, the Spiridonov Mansion and the luxurious hotel “National”. This year all newlyweds can participate in a large-scale mass wedding in Moscow on the territory of VDNKh, where the exhibition “Russia” is held. The event is planned for May 12 or the so-called Red Mountain, a Russian holiday that traditionally started the spring and wedding period.

Choose the perfect venue for your celebration

The choice of locations for celebrating weddings in Moscow is almost limitless – depending on your budget and preferences, you can find a place to suit any taste and any number of guests.

For lovers of classic wedding celebrations in Moscow there are about 2000 hotels and thousands of restaurants for a “turnkey wedding”. For example, wedding organizers advise to consider the restaurant “Boat” in the style of an expensive yacht (Novinsky Boulevard, 8), elegant restaurant “White” in the historical center with references to the Silver Age in the interiors (Arbatskaya Street, 55), two-story lounge restaurant Mansard with panoramic windows and the atmosphere of “The Great Gatsby” (Lavochkina 7A). The restaurant “Wednesday” in the landscape park “Krylatskie Hills” (1 Krylatskaya St.) is very popular among Muscovites – the venue has won the “Stolichny Banquet” award more than once.

For a wedding with royal chic look at the luxurious restaurant “Parisien” in the Tsar Pavilion (Leningradsky pr., 31c9). Not just a restaurant, but a real palace, it is considered one of the most romantic wedding venues. You can celebrate in a nautical atmosphere in the yacht-restaurant “Chaika” with a view of the Moskva River and the White House (Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment 12A): the design of the venue allows turning the halls into an open terrace on the water.

The review of venues for the celebration does not end with restaurants: modern newlyweds choose lofts, former factories, airplane hangars, tents on the banks of rivers in the Moscow region, rooftops and ships for their celebrations. To conclude a marriage at altitude with a view of magnificent Moscow is worth in a stylish restaurant O2 Lounge (Carlton Hotel, Tverskaya, 3), “Library” hall of the Baltschug Kempinski Hotel (Baltschug Street, 1), a view restaurant Buono in the famous Stalinist high-rise (Radisson Royal, Kutuzovsky Prospekt, 2/1, p1), a modern bar Rooftop with a cozy summer terrace and a view of the Kremlin (St Regis Hotel, Nikolskaya, 12). How about a wedding under the domes on the roof in the chain Igloo Bar (Nizhnyaya Krasnoselskaya St., 35 p59) or in the former building of a confectionery factory in the banquet hall Krym Terrace (Bolotnaya Nab., 3, p1). In addition, in Moscow is very popular rental of huge tents on the roofs of buildings, which are fully decorated for wedding events.

Many newlyweds gladly choose lofts for wedding events, which can be rented for the right time and hold a unique event with its own design and wedding concept. Choose a 19th century Belgian mansion on a closed territory, an authentic mansion on the territory of the former “Dynamo” factory, a two-story brick loft with designer halls and other options from the many Moscow lofts.

Moscow locations for an unforgettable wedding photo shoot

Moscow has gathered all the cuisines of the world, so for a wedding you can choose a treat for every taste: choose a place with a particular cuisine or order catering. Indian cuisine is very widely represented in the Russian capital thanks to the long-standing friendly alliance between Russia and India. A wedding banquet can be held in the authentic Indian restaurant Dhaba146 (Leninsky pr., 146), which specializes in wedding banquets and festivals, and also offers catering for off-site events. Pleasant interiors and preservation of national traditions in serving dishes allows you to hold an authentic wedding in it, being thousands of kilometers away from India.

The name of the restaurant Taj Mahal (12c1 Arbat St.) speaks for itself – it is an expensive Indian restaurant in the center of Moscow with palatial scale in interiors. Other cuisines of the world are presented in the menu, but connoisseurs come here for Indian cuisine.

The modern Indian restaurant “Hello, India!” (Krzhizhanovsky St., 20/30 p1) is suitable for a youth wedding. After rebranding and renovation, the authentic Indian institution has acquired a fresh fashionable look – bright design, colored walls and traditional cuisine at the same height.

The restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine Jay Hind (18/1 Olympic Ave.) is conveniently located in the Azimut Hotel and also organizes turnkey wedding banquets with traditional treats at a high level and in a beautiful setting.

Another oasis of Indian cuisine in the heart of Moscow is the restaurant “Thali and Curry” (Tverskaya Street, 17). It opened in the pandemic to give Muscovites the atmosphere of a trip to India and successfully fulfills its mission until now. For a wedding the restaurant’s premises may seem small, but the establishment organizes catering on the go with service, serving and even entertaining guests in the style of India.

A party near Moscow – take your guests out of town

Moscow has everything for an unforgettable wedding – hotels, restaurants, non-standard venues, any kind of entertainment. But in the warm season, you should not ignore the parks and estates that are located in the city itself and in the nearby Moscow region. Country places are very popular with Moscow newlyweds, and many prefer either to organize a wedding celebration away from the city, or to arrive there with guests the next day and for photo shoots among palatial landscapes and natural beauties.

Kuskovo Estate (2 Yunosti Street) is the former estate of the Russian Counts Sheremetevs with magnificent neoclassical architecture. In the XVIII century the estate was widely known among the Russian nobility as an “entertaining residence” with its own theater and opera. Now it is a museum-reserve, which has preserved the atmosphere of a holiday with a swing. In the manor you can organize a photo day in the museum or a walk in the regular park.

The Arkhangelskoye estate (Moscow region, Krasnogorsk, Arkhangelskoye settlement) is considered to be the only integral architectural and park ensemble in the Moscow region, which has preserved all the main elements of planning and construction. Arkhangelskoye embodies the standard of Russian manor art of the XVIII-XIX centuries. It is a wonderful place for walks and photo sessions in the palace interiors and in the carefully designed regular park.

Dubrovitsy estate (Moscow region, Podolsk, Dubrovitsy settlement) is a cozy corner near Moscow in a classical style, with an amazing old church in a lush baroque style. The territory is small, but very green, quiet and peaceful, with preserved aristocratic noble spirit of the owners of Princes Golitsyns.

A popular park with palace complexes inside Moscow is Tsaritsyno (metro station “Tsaritsyno”). This is the largest reserve within the city with a huge park area and with a restored palace complex. There are many ponds and reservoirs, picturesque bridges, fountains and sculptures, and small pavilions, rotundas and other architectural surprises scattered around the park area. Newlyweds can have a wedding photo session in the Great Tsaritsyn Palace, in the Catherine and Tavrichesky Halls, and guests can be entertained by a tour with a theatrical performance.

Kolomenskoye Park (39 Andropova Ave.) is another beautiful place in the south of Moscow. It is the oldest manor with a unique park ensemble, a church of the 16th century (included in the UNESCO heritage list) and magnificent landscapes on picturesque hills. One of the iconic places in the estate is the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in the Old Russian style, which on occasion also houses the Palace of Marriage and organizes ceremonies and off-site registrations. In May, the park becomes a real place of tourist pilgrimage, when the famous apple orchard blossoms in Kolomenskoye and more than 1000 trees simultaneously fragrant and pleasing to the eye. In total, there are more than 4000 apple trees in the park, so late spring is the perfect time for walks, photo shoots and wedding celebrations.

Regardless of your preferences and tastes, Moscow has the right location, hotels, entertainment and treats to organize an unforgettable magnificent wedding. Thousands of people have joined their hearts in the hospitable and generous Russian capital – come and follow their example.
