Wedding trends and customs are subject to constant change. From big bashes to micro weddings, extravagant decor to minimalism, long ceremonies to less formal ones, fads have changed radically over the years. Along with this, the dressing style has also changed. Who says a bride has to wear a red lehenga at her wedding? Here are a few brides who ditched conventional wedding attire and wore out-of-the-box, chic outfits on their big day.
Sanjana Rishi
Sanjana Rishi threw the idea of a traditional wedding outfit out the window and wore this ultra-modern powder blue power suit on her big day. The power suit is a 1990s vintage piece from Gianfranco Ferré, an Italian designer. In an Instagram post, she stated that she wanted to find a wedding attire that embodied her style while also honouring her devotion to sustainability and ethical buying. Styling the piece with minimal jewellery and a self-dyed bustier, she proves to be a real trendsetter!
Mehal Kejriwal
Mehal Kejriwal rocked this avant-garde, gold sculpted wire saree from Rimzim Dadu. During an intimate home engagement during the pandemic, this bride wore the perfect outfit which is equal parts contemporary and elegant. Breaking free from the tradition of wearing a traditional outfit, Mehal looked beautifully poised with her unorthodox attire.
Shibani Dandekar
Shibani Dandekar crushed all norms and wore a stunning red custom-designed gown by Jade By MK. With its corset-like blouse, floor long mermaid form skirt and flowing veil this outfit is progressive, rare and à la mode. Dandekar and Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar became man and wife early this year and had a private, small scale wedding. Both the bride in her red getup and the groom in his sophisticated tuxedo looked absolutely ravishing.
Saba Sheikh
Wedding designer Saba Sheikh got married to her now-husband in an intimate wedding in Dubai last year. On her wedding day, she wore an all-white designer pantsuit. She collaborated with Suffuse by Sana Yasir to rethink a pantsuit in a contemporary sense. The final outcome was a short kurta with an ornate cape, slender leggings, and a voluminous veil covered in hundreds of pearls. The couple looked enchanting in their all-white attire as they got hitched.
