There is a niche of people who appreciate the fine detailing and time that goes into designing and creating these dresses and we want to make it more accessible for the childrenswear market. Those who buy Janya’s Closet know they are buying a beautifully created, meticulously crafted, exceptional quality and one-of-a-kind piece. Smart wears with lot of layers, lot of dyeing and shaded variety with little embroideries. High – low dresses, skirt top, co-ords is often preferred. The designer says, “As we all celebrate the smallest victories and festivals, there’s also a huge demand in the children’s clothing industry. The entire clothing segment has changed in recent years, including the children’s segment. Parents have become more aware of the fabrics used, the style and the quality details. Trends that include flare styles with less embroidery and bling are seen. In children’s fashion, simplicity is the new trend, asymmetrical cuts in kurtas for boys are a trend we love. The most difficult thing in the children’s wear industry is sizing. We find it difficult to custom size because children are small and unique in their own way.”
Doi Moi by Ankita Gupta, Founded in 2016
Doi Moi as a brand stands for ‘Innovation’ in Vietnamese. They curate bespoke hand-painted kids’ ethnic and western apparel and styles for their special occasions. Their in-vogue popular collections are greatly admired by their clientele.
Designer says, “In recent times, I feel that parents are trying to give the spotlight to their young ones on occasions like Birthdays, Weddings and Festivals. Hence, our brand aims to provide innovative kid’s wear through classic trends such as suits, children’s sherwani, and shirts, for the boys, while for our little girls we also create Sharara suits, jumpers, dresses, etc. and playfully designed hand-painted customized shoes. The offbeat nature of Kid’s fashion has inspired youth designers and companies to enter the industry. The color palettes have been extended from neutrals towards vibrant and pastel hues. During my experience in kids wear, understanding the requirements of parents and kids is the heart of customization. The contrasting opinions of both have to be borne in mind while customizing the outfit. While there are two decision-makers in the outfit the child is the ultimate customer of the brand. Although this is challenging but is equally exciting too.”
Karasa Baby by Karishma Shah, Founded in 2015
Karasa baby was founded in the year 2015 with the passion of creating unique pieces for the little princesses. The brand aims to provide customized outfits for our little ones suitable to the special theme and occasions. The one thing which makes the brand different from others is that the silhouettes are individually created with utmost comfort for the kids.
The designer says, “The Kid’s fashion has become very personalised for parents as some prefer classic while others prefer super flashy. The growing demand for mini couture has given rise to new designs of adults in miniature silhouettes. We women, want our children to be fashion-forward with the trends changing in every cycle through exposure to social media and cinema. Additionally, I believe couture brands have taken Kids’ fashion to the runway. Classic couture trends such as ruffles and embellishments have been admired by our clientele. The major problem I faced is the parental demand for overpowering silhouettes for kids wear. Trying to keep the child’s innocence as a priority and trying to convince the clientele that less is more in Kid’s fashion hasn’t been a cakewalk. Karasa Baby as a brand creates elegant and classy outfits where comfort and style are the main focus. Our Indian collection also aims to create heavy outfits with a comfortable style as we are dealing with soft and delicate skin.”
